The Biceps Tendon

Calcific tendinitis is probably one of the most painful conditions at the shoulder joint. It is a completely benign condition and for me, often difficult to treat. The patient can be of any age and both men and female are affected. We don’t know why calcium builds up in the rotator cuff tendons and unfortunately there is no magic cure to resorb the calcium deposit.

Shoulder Impingement

When the rotator cuff impinges (gets pinched between the shoulder blade and the ball part of the shoulder joint) it causes pain. This is caused by the rotator cuff not functioning properly. The rotator cuff is a group of muscles around the shoulder joint which keeps the ball in the centre of the socket and rotates the shoulder joint. There are four muscles forming the rotator cuff: the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapualris and teres minor.
